Kent Police Fire Arms Licenses

Posted on:

There is currently around an 8 to 12 week delay on completion of non-nhs work and we’re aware that this is impacting on those patients requiring firearms licenses.

We have been in discussions with the Kent Police Firearms Department who have kindly given us the following advice.

“We have taken steps to help gun owners who are unable to get the report completed by the expiry date, sending reminder letters to them with advice at least 12 weeks before the expiry date and at 8 weeks before. If they cannot obtain the letter before the expiry date they should contact us via the Kent Police Website to advise this at least 2 weeks before. We will then try to assist them to remain lawfully in possession of their guns and dependent on the circumstances we may be able to extend the expiry date.

There is an alternative to obtaining the GP report from your surgery. They can use companies that advertise this service online. We are trying to be as flexible as we can during what is a very busy period in unusual circumstances. We don’t want to cause any anxiety or stress and we try to work with them to keep them lawfully in possession of their firearms.”

If you require assistance with this from Headcorn Surgery you can contact our administration team on [email protected]
