Covid and Flu autumn booster clinics start this month!

Posted on:

Covid and flu autumn booster clinics will commence from 14th September and we will be sending out invitations to eligible patients shortly so you can book yourself in to one.

This year the government have told us that the following vulnerable groups should be vaccinated:

  • Residents in a care home for older adults
  • All adults aged 65 years and over
  • Persons aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group, as laid out in the Immunisation Green Book, COVID-19 Chapter (Green Book)  NHS England » Who is at increased risk from COVID-19?
  • Frontline health and social care workers
  • Persons aged 12 to 64 years who are household contacts (as defined in the Green Book) of people with immunosuppression
  • Persons aged 16 to 64 years who are carers (as defined in the Green Book) and staff working in care homes for older adults. In addition, the immunisation process has been accelerated due to concern about the new variant BA.2.86 which is causing a sudden surge in infections. – See here for more information on this NHS England » NHS flu and covid vaccine programmes brought forward due to risk of new covid variant

This year, we will be holding separate clinics for those aged over 65 and under 65. This is following the format of the flu clinics we hold annually. Please also be aware that some patients may receive a text message before others do. We try to stagger the invitations to ensure that our clinical systems does not overload. Please be assured that all eligible patients will be invited and those that are housebound and in care homes will be vaccinated.

If you are a carer or if you work in a care home and you have not informed us of your status, please do so as soon as possible to ensure we are able to book you in to one of our clinics.
